EDUCATION
Welcome to our jewelry education and information site map.
Metal Information:
All of our jewelry is made of metals gold and silver.
Pure (100%) gold is too soft, and is usually mixed with other metal alloys (silver, copper, nickel and zinc) to make it stronger and more durable for jewelry.
The karat indicates the amount of pure gold in the metal. The higher the karat, the higher the percentage of pure gold in the metal. We use 10K gold which is 41.6% of gold mixed with other alloys.
Silver is the most reflective and affordable of the precious metals. Its lower price permits bold, innovative looks. Sterling silver is the standard of quality for jewelry containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper and other metals.
Rose Cut Diamond Information:
All of our jewelry with rose cut diamonds is of Indian origin. We strive to offer you only those pieces of antique style jewelry with rose cut diamonds that will pass our quality tests.
Rose cut diamonds: The standard rose cut, also called the Dutch rose cut, has 24 triangular facets: 6 star facets meeting at a point at the top and 18 cross facets. Due to the absence of pavilion, many rose cuts are foiled back with a silver foil reflector.
The rose cut is said to have been developed in India. In Europe, the rose cut lost popularity in the early 18th century, when the brilliant cut was invented. But the beginning of the 20th century saw a slight revival of the cut. In those days, when there would be too much weight loss if a stone was to be polished into a brilliant, people might opt for one or two rose cuts. When the stone is cut so that it is in the form of two rose-cut stones placed base to base, it is called a double rose cut.
Usually, when speaking about a rose cut, people refer to a cone-shaped diamond (or another prescribed symmetrical form) featuring a variable number of facets (usually two horizontal rows rising to a point) and a flat bottom (which means no pavilion).
It is important to bear on mind that the rose cut is first of all a cut. It is like the emerald cut. You can have emerald cuts as diamonds, as emerald or as diamond. And it also applies for rose cuts. You can have garnet rose cuts, as well as diamond rose cuts. This is important since knowing that helps avoiding a frequent misuse of the vocabulary rose cut.

Lab Created
|
Gemstones created in a lab with exact chemical properties of their natural counterparts are termed lab created. Also know as synthetic stones, these stones are usually significantly less expensive than natural stones.
|
|
Simulant
|
The practice of simulating costly and precious objects with inexpensive substitutes has been traced back over 6,000 years ago in ancient Egypt. This practice continues today in simulating precious gemstones.
|
|
Synthetic
|
Synthetic refers to a man-made material with a natural counterpart. The synthetic crystal replicates the chemical and physical properties of the natural crystal with little or no variation.

Cubic Zirconia
|
CZ is a lab created diamond stimulant. While CZ is a transparent stone, trace elements ca be added to the manufacturing process, producing a wide range of colors. On Mohs' scale of hardness, CZ is harder than other gemstones except for diamond, ruby sapphire and chrysoberyl. Some of the most popular CZs are manufactured in Russia.

Jewelry Care:
You could take good care of your jewelry by following a few simple steps:
- Avoid contact with soap, perfume, cosmetics and hairspray.
- Take chains and bracelets off at night, and store them flat to prevent them from breaking.
- Use a gentle soft cloth to polish gold jewelry after wearing
- Avoid Sunlight and exposure to heat as this may cause the color of gemstones to deteriorate.
